10 Jan CES 2018:Day 1
We’re sharing our top picks from day one of CES 2018.
Peter’s Pick:
Intel’s booth was doing a large push for VR. Not only did they have the newest gear from HTC, namely the new Pro headset and wireless transmission system (not shown together), but they created their entire booth to be explored virtually while you were in the booth exploring it in real space.
The virtual booth was a little better with lighter crowds and Easter eggs. My favorite being a sneak peek at one of the scenes from the upcoming Ready Player One.
Annie’s Pick:
The concept cars we saw from Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Smart, and others were incredible. From the trends of this entire industry’s exhibitions, the future is electric and automotive companies are making great strides in ensuring their future thrives on this technology.
My favorite car was the Nissan IMx, which is built on self-driving technology, learning the user’s preferences, and elegant informatics display.
Paul’s Pick:
I’ve heard good things about Vuzix but this was the first time I tried the headset that’s currently on the market.
We’ll be trying the new system later in the show but the Google Glass like device was impressive. It has usable augmented tracking tech and a heads-up display that can solve a lot of problems in the field. We’re looking forward to seeing the progress they’ve made with the new model and we’ll report back with what we discover.
Amy’s Pick:
When we entered the LG expo booth we were led through a windy walkway with floor to ceiling LG OLED 4K TVs. It’s difficult to tell from pictures but the colors were super vibrant and the picture was crystal clear. When paired with the sound it was an incredible experience and a well-executed lead into their expo space.
