CES 2018: Day 2

CES 2018: Day 2

Day 2 of CES was jammed-packed with even more promising new tech. Here’s our list of top picks from the second day.

Annie’s Pick:

We had a great meeting with MSI and discussed their existing VR-ready hardware, as well as their upcoming equipment releases. We got a private tour of their current fleet of PC’s, laptops and accessories.

Some of the custom PC’s that were on display were incredible with amazing cable management, liquid cooling and LED’s.

Peter’s Pick:

Scale-1 portal’s system created convincing holograms that were fun to interact with using a combination of existing tech. I was surprised how much depth was created, it often felt like things were in the middle of this room.

It also has the advantage of others being able to see it along with you due to the affordability of the glasses. The gameplay was using an Xbox connect but was tracking well enough that it didn’t feel like there were any issues. With advancements in VR and AR the chances this will be adopted widely is unlikely, but it clearly has its place in certain circumstance.

Paul’s Pick:

Razor’s new 120 Hz smartphone has me really excited.

Not only is it loaded with the best visuals I’ve seen in a device this small, it also has Adobe atmos and THX certified sound. I’ll most likely be getting this for myself at my next upgrade. If they actually release the laptop-style dock for it I definitely will!

This setup is the talk of CES for good reason.  I hope to see it, and derivative imitators on the

market soon.

Amy’s Pick:

The Metro Atlanta Chamber invited us to the new eSports Arena Hard Hat Tour at the Luxor. In addition to great food and eSports-themed drinks, we got to witness a historical event inside of Las Vegas’s pyramid.

A guest appearance by Frodan kicked off a night of announcements for the massive arena that will be open every day starting March 22nd this year. The arena is still majorly under construction and so we got to wear (and keep) branded hard hats commemorative of the event. We look forward to checking out the finished space next time we’re in Vegas.

Bonus Pick!

We saw a chair. We wanted to see that chair. And Peter found a way to see the chair. We found our way into a magical paradise of tiny homes and Airstreams – Fergusons Downtown – which was created by the CEO of Zappos, Tony Hsieh. On display for private demos was the MMOne Project – a six gimbal chair that took users on a crazy ride with flips, turns and jumps. Peter got to experience this first hand and his reactions were priceless.

Oh, and there was a llama there too.

We can’t wait to share Day 3 with you tomorrow!
