Georgia-Pacific

Virtual Reality
Challenge

Georgia-Pacific wanted to transform the way they developed safety training. New hires understood the concept of proper safety procedures but were not always aware of the dire consequences that could occur as a result of a missed step.

Solution

Futurus produced 8 training simulations that cover common themes across sites such as lock tag verify, mobile equipment and pedestrian interaction, hot work, and excavation.

With VR, new hires can virtually enter an environment that could not be replicated safely in the real world. Georgia-Pacific and Futurus developed employee training that simulated a “bad day” or severe incident in a learn, practice, test format.

Results

Virtual reality training has helped Georgia-Pacific employees connect the dots around the “why” behind safety practices in manufacturing. Employees who went through immersive training have 30% higher knowledge retention scores compared to traditional classroom learning.
