29 Aug MyCorder: A Mobile Scavenger Hunt
Labor Day weekend is almost upon us and this year Futurus partnered with the Trek Track to bring you MyCorder, an interactive scavenger hunt app! The hunt starts Friday, August 31st and runs through Sunday, September 2nd at various locations in Downtown Atlanta near the Big Convention. Players will be given clues to decipher and achievements will be awarded throughout the weekend. A few lucky winners will receive prizes during the closing ceremonies held on Monday, September 3rd at 1 PM in the Trek Track, you must be present to win.
The MyCorder Mission:
You’ve been dropped on an unfamiliar planet and everyone around you appears to be human, but you cannot be sure. Your mission is to scan for life forms, known locations and objects on this new planet to find out what’s safe and what’s not! “But how?” You ask. Take the device that’s attached to your hand and download the MyCorder app – available on the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. Open the MyCorder app, decipher the clues, and scan for BIO, GEO, and OBJ in the area. The fate of humanity is relying on you. Good luck.
How do I play?
Your objective is to find out more about what’s around you and your physical location in relation to a few key life forms, places, and things around the Big Convention in Downtown Atlanta. Familiarize yourself with the clues and their possible answers by exploring different areas of the city, hotels, and meeting rooms.
How do I Scan?
Scroll through and select a clue you would like to scan for, hit Scan and MyCorder will probe the area. If it is successful, congratulations! Your achievement will be added to the database.
How do I earn achievements?
Continue playing and achievements will unlock automatically as you earn them.
What does each button do?
BIO – looks for physical bodies of organic matter (Person)
GEO – looks for a geographical location (Place)
OBJ – looks for inanimate objects (Thing)
DATA – App options, FAQ and Achievements lists.
How does the game know where I am?
It uses iBeacon technology. If you’re within range of the correct BIO, GEO or OBJ target, MyCorder will show a successful scan.
How can I talk to a real human about the game?
Check out the informational panel with the creators at Futurus to discuss the making of the game, how to play, and tips on strategy on Friday, August 31 at 10 AM in the Trek Track. Who knows – there may be an answer to a clue given during the panel. Visit the Trek Track anytime for general information about the app.
